The squares and streets of the Eternal City and its famous statues are presented in a new light, and make us discover a deserted city where “silence speaks” and takes us on a journey to an unprecedented Rome in all its beauty. Palazzo Venezia in Rome lights up from today with the projection of the images of exhibition “Rome silent beauty” on the facade of the building housing the Istituto Vive – Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia, an exhibition sponsored by the Municipality of Rome, which will open its doors to the public with free admission from 20 January to 28 February at the Vittoriano, in the Zanardelli room.
Il video mapping alternates a selection of unpublished photos of the capital with plays of light, dressing Palazzo Venezia with special effects from 18.30 to 23.30. The videomapping and the exhibition are part of the overall project “Rome silent beauty”, which offers photos taken during the months of the 2020 lockdown. The visual show projected on Palazzo Venezia therefore anticipates the opening of the exhibition by a few days in which the visitor will be able to an emotional and intellectual journey through the streets, bridges, squares of an unprecedented and never seen before Rome, during the months of the lockdown during the Covid pandemic, a city immersed in an unexpected silence, which allows you to rediscover a unique beauty, thanks to photos, videos and multimedia projections.
And Venice plazacity center, a Sant’Angelo castelbulwark of the military defense of the Catholic Church, until Piazza del Popoloa masterpiece of architecture and urban planning, from the ancient Rome of the Palatine hill to theEur, the neighborhood destined to host the 1942 Universal Exposition, the images tell the story of uninhabited Rome through comparisons of different eras and different architectures. The photos invite the viewer to take a journey through space and time, and become material for investigation, study and comparison.
The aim of the project is in fact to promote a constructive debate on issues related to a new concept of livable city, urban planning and sustainable mobility, and on possible future paradigms of urban living, to transform the experience of the pandemic into an opportunity to restart from the needs of communities to rethink cities from a new point of view of sustainability. The initiative intends to promote a reflection on a more human-scale city model and on infrastructures, such as the Metro C under construction, which can relaunch Rome, also in the light of the international initiatives that the city will host in the coming years.
