Tehran: Ziad al-Nakhla, leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad active in Gaza, and Hamas chief Ismail Haniya are in Iran these days. These two terrorist leaders have met Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi. A video of this is also being shared on social media. In this video, Ismail Haniya is seen hugging Iranian President Raisi. This meeting took place in the last week of Ramadan and a few days before the six-month anniversary of the massacre that took place in Israel on October 7.
Iran wants reconciliation between terrorist groups
It is believed that Iran is trying to bring about reconciliation between these two terrorist groups. These two groups were together in the attack on October 7, however, after Israel’s retaliation, there has been a dispute between the two groups regarding the funding they were receiving from foreign countries. In such a situation, Hamas and Islamic Jihad are working separately. Due to this, the Israeli army is getting an edge in Gaza and these terrorist organizations supported by Iran are being harmed. In such a situation, Iran’s effort is to bring reconciliation between the two groups and bring them together.
What did Iran say on the meetings
Palestinian Islamic Jihad chief Ziad al-Nakhla met with Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahian. During this, the role of Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza was discussed. A report by Iran’s Tasnim News said, “Amir Abdullahian considered the unity of resistance streams in Palestine and the Gaza Strip in the current fight as one of the valuable expressions of the Palestinian nation.” It references the achievements that Palestinians believe they have made on the political, legal and international fronts.
