According to an IDF statement, the rockets were fired from the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Israel’s missile defense system successfully intercepted several rockets, the statement said, but other rockets hit Israel’s border area.

The Magen David Adom rescue service said one person was injured in the attack.

Almost 10 months after the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel and the ground offensive in the Gaza Strip that followed shortly after, the militants are still firing rockets at Israel from time to time.

Five rockets were fired at Israel’s coastal city of Ashkelon, but did not cause any damage, the military said on Sunday.

The reason for the war in the Gaza Strip was the unprecedented massacre, during which Hamas and other militant groups killed more than 1,200 people in Israel on October 7 last year.

Israel has received international criticism for the high number of civilian casualties.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, more than 39,000 people have been killed and more than 90,000 injured in the Palestinian territory since the start of the war.
