Palestinians were documented today (Wednesday) uprooting olive trees in an orchard planted by settlers from the Abigail outpost in the southern Hebron Mountains and located on state land. The incident takes place two days after the tweet of the Minister of Internal Security Amar Bar-Lev on the issue of settler violence in the territories, a tweet that provoked a right-wing storm and widespread public condemnation.
The head of the Mount Hebron Council, Yochai Damari, commented on the incident and attacked Minister Bar-Lev for his treatment of the settlers:
“Minister Bar-Lev received his first lesson in Arabic today – when backed by antisemitic lies, the Arabs gain security and go out to attack,” the Yesha Council said after the incident. A clear message to Minister Bar-Lev – If you do not stop backing up anti-Semitic campaigns, Arab violence will intensify and terrorism will not hesitate to raise its head. We call on the Minister of Internal Security to wake up and take action against terrorism. The people of Judea and Samaria are your citizens, do not abandon our security. “
