He National Action Party (PAN) confirmed that it will challenge the distribution of plurinominal deputies before the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF).

He asserted that he will defend the plurality of the citizen vote and denounced that the allocation will lead to overrepresentation and the formation of illegitimate parliamentary groups of the parties of Brunette, Green and of the Job.

“At National Action we believe that the decision, approved by a split vote of seven councilors who voted in favor and four against, contradicts the principles of equity and fair representation that should govern our democratic system,” the party said in a statement.

“The overrepresentation of a party or coalition creates a fictitious majority and not only alters the political balance, but also undermines the citizens’ trust in the law and institutions,” said the national leader of the PAN, Marko Cortes Mendoza.

For this reason, he said, the corresponding challenge was presented to the TEPJF, requesting the judges to analyse and resolve, with autonomy, justice and determination, enforcing the plurality of the vote expressed at the polls.

“It is essential that the Court act with complete impartiality and transparency, ensuring that the vote of all Mexicans counts equally for the allocation of proportional representation deputies of all parties,” he said.

Therefore, Cortés Mendoza said, we will present the pertinent legal resources to reverse the overrepresentation and ensure that the will of the electorate expressed at the polls on June 2 is respected. The challenge was presented by the General Legal Coordination of the PAN that heads Raymundo Bolanos Azocart.
