PAN demands that INE attend to oversight in Álvaro Obregón

In the face of what they consider an “obvious and blatant” exceeding of the limit of campaign expenses in the election of Alvaro Obregonthe president of the National Action Party in the Mexico City, Andrés Atayde Rubioloand the former mayoral candidate, Lia Lemon Garciathey demanded from the General Council of National Electoral Institute address complaints about oversight.

Atayde Rubiolo pointed out that the General Council of the Electoral Institute is obliged to resolve the complaints and opinions in which the expenditure of more than 7 million pesos in the campaign of the elected candidate Javier López Casarín was clearly and forcefully denounced; more than 4 million pesos above the legal limit of expenses established.

“In the interest of transparency, impartiality and equity in the electoral contest, the INE must address our claims and complaints, as they fully demonstrate the overspending and early campaign actions incurred by the now elected mayor.”

For her part, Lía Limón stressed that the last electoral process was absolutely unfair, which is why more than 200 complaints were filed with the electoral authority and at least 10 complaints for premature campaigning, as well as various violations of the principle of impartiality. “We have collected and presented the evidence that supports all the irregularities in the election. The electoral authority has all the elements, so we demand that the evidence be analyzed exhaustively and that the challenge we presented be addressed and resolved in accordance with the law,” she said.

Lía Limón pointed out that during the last electoral contest, the Morena candidate carried out proselytizing activities that were characterized by opacity and illegality.

As an example, she highlighted the promotion and dissemination of the Card called “La Obregonense”; the holding of a health day in her name that is estimated to have cost at least 500 thousand pesos; as well as more than 500 paid advertisements on social networks for at least 826 thousand pesos, of which the origin of the funds is unknown.

He also accused the holding of multiple ostentatious events that were not reported, arguing that the organization and logistics were not the responsibility of the candidate’s campaign.

Finally, he highlighted the use of jingles with copyrighted music tracks without the corresponding authorizations, among other behaviors against transparency and accountability.

Both politicians stressed that they will be attentive to the next session of the General Council of the INE, where the pending complaints will be analyzed and resolved and they are confident that they will address the alleged irregularities in the campaign of the Álvaro Obregón Mayor’s Office.
