The coordinator of the National Action Party (PAN) in the Chamber of Deputies, Noemi Lunasaid that they will appeal to all legal resources necessary to reverse the approval of the opinion which incorporates the National guard to the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena).

He said that the substance of the ruling that is being discussed this Thursday in the San Lázaro Plenary violates the Constitution and even international treaties.

“Just yesterday, in my capacity as coordinator, I received a statement from the UN representative asking us not to vote on this resolution, because there have been repeated recommendations to the Mexican State that the use of military force be only on exclusive occasions and not something ordinary,” said the secretary general of the National Executive Committee of the PAN.

He recalled that there was political consensus for the creation of the National Guard, but this was with the characteristic of being a civilian force.

He said that only in countries where there is a tendency towards dictatorship, is the country militarized.

Luna emphasized that the PAN’s opposition to the incorporation of the Sedena does not mean that they are not grateful for the service of the military to the country, but insisted that their vocation is another.

“There must be a strong civil police force, a civil police force trained to deal with the very serious situation we are experiencing in the country,” he said.

Regarding the responsibility that President López Obrador placed on the United States government for the violence in Sinaloa, the PAN coordinator commented that the president always finds those responsible for his inefficiency and for what he has not been able to resolve.
