The company plans to replace the 140,000 affected items free of charge.
According to Panasonic Cycle Tech, the recall applies to 140,364 battery packs for electrically assisted bicycles manufactured between January 2015 and July 2017.
According to the company, there have been 13 accidents in which batteries caught fire over the past four years, and the cause is thought to be water entering the battery, corroding the safety valve, leaking electrolyte, and causing a short circuit. I’m explaining.
