Marseille had everything to set up a meeting with SC Braga in the play-off to access the group stage of the Champions League, but Guendouzi threw everything away and it is Panathinaikos who will face the Portuguese team.
At the start, Panathinaikos was the desired opponent for SC Braga, due to the theoretical difference in relation to the French team. In that sense, the first leg result gave hope to the Portuguese side, but Marseille came on strong and took the lead in 45 minutes.
Aubameyang returned to goals almost 10 months later and soon in a double dose. The Gabonese, summer signing for the French team, started by deflecting an excellent cross from Sarr, just 2 minutes into the game, and scored twice just before the break, in a quick move in which he took advantage of an excellent pass from Clauss to circumvent the Greek keeper and make it 2-0.

However, the villain was midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi, who started as a substitute and came off the bench to take the penalty that took the match into extra time and then was the only Marseille player to miss a penalty. On the side of the Greek team, no one wavered and, surprisingly, it is Panathinaikos who go through.
The first game will take place in Braga, on the 23rd of August, while the second leg is scheduled for the 29th of August, in Greece.
