Panathinaikos transfers: Announced Maksimovic

by time news

Panathinaikos has formalized the “bombshell” of Nemanja Maksimovic, with the Serbian international announced by the club until 2027.

The transfer of Nemanja Maksimovic to Panathinaikos, with a starting date of July 1, 2024 – which had been “locked” in essence since the evening of January 21 – was made official by the “clover” on Thursday morning (21/3), with the announcement of the acquisition of the international Serbian midfielder by the green PAE.

In a very special way, which the Greens are not used to, but which also shows the importance of the transfer movement (as well as how much the club has developed its contact with social media in recent months), Panathinaikos first uploaded on its official account group on Instagram a teaser in which it was written “guess who is here” (“guess who is here”) showing a man walking in the training center “G. Kalafatis” without showing his face.

The interaction was huge and within a few minutes dozens of messages and thousands of likes followed from the friends of the team who had singled out the figure of the Serbian ace.

And a little while later the confirmation came, with Panathinaikos announcing its agreement with Maksimovic with the start date of their collaboration on July 1st, when he will now formally be free from Spanish Getafe.

Maksimović’s contract will last for three years, while there is also an option for another year (season 2027/28), with his annual salary reaching 2 million euros. The Serbian midfielder is expected to take part with his national team in Euro 2024 in Germany and will join Panathinaikos during the summer training.

Panathinaikos’ announcement in detail:

“PAE Panathinaikos announces the acquisition of Nemanja Maksimovic! The Serbian midfielder has signed a three-year contract and will join our team’s roster next summer, immediately after completing his duties with Spanish Getafe.

Maksimović was born on January 26, 1995 in Banja Koviljaca, Serbia. From his teenage years he joined the Red Star academy. After his participation in the U19 European Championship, where he won the trophy with Serbia, he was acquired by Domzale, Slovenia.

In the spring of 2015, he was acquired by Kazakhstan’s top club Astana, paying off in the first few months as an own goal in Cyprus against APOEL earned his club qualification for the Champions League group stage for the first time in their history. ! That summer will be unforgettable for Maksimović, after he won the World Cup with the Serbian U20 national team, even scoring the winning goal in extra time of the final against Brazil!

Before moving to Valencia in June 2017, he managed to win two championships, a Cup and a Super Cup in Astana. In the “bats”, however, he could not establish himself and a year later he found his football home in Getafe. There, he not only took the jersey of the main team to his… home, but became a point of reference for the Madrid club. In Getafe, he played in more than 200 games, ending his tenure there in May, in order to join Panathinaikos.

Called up to the Serbian national team at the age of 21, he is an active member, having already made 48 appearances, including all three matches in the final phase of the 2022 World Cup.

We welcome Nemania to the Panathinaikos family!”
