“Pandemic showed welfare risks on old models”

by time news

“The pandemic has shown us in a dramatic way what are the risks of a welfare anchored to old models, and how the most fragile people have often been marginalized by a system that is no longer functional in various aspects”. He said it Erika Stefani, Minister for Disabilities, in a message sent to ‘1000azionioltrelaSm: co-responsibility, innovation, sustainability towards the 2025 agenda’, webinar organized at the end of the World Multiple Sclerosis Day and to open the National Week dedicated to the disease, promoted by Aism (Italian Association of Multiple Sclerosis ) and its Fism Foundation.

“That of multiple sclerosis – said Stefani – is in fact a world made up of people and their families, who ask for more attention, respect and care. These legitimate needs cannot be satisfied except through a important work to improve the pre-existing assistance structures, also taking advantage of all the reports and all the criticalities that emerged during the last year. Today, however, we can say that we finally have a strategy, as a country, which moves exactly in this direction. Our strategy, which as Minister for Disabilities I have the honor to follow in this very delicate phase of our country’s history, is well established within the NRP. ”

The National Recovery and Resilience Plan, “as is well known, is the pillar on which the Italy of tomorrow will rest, which cannot fail to be an Italy that is more inclusive and more attentive to the needs of the most vulnerable. Every project, every measure, every intervention financed with the resources of the NRP, it is essential that it has an inclusive and non-discriminatory character. As minister it will be my task to ensure that this happens, accelerating the work necessary for the introduction of those measures that have long been requested by the associations and families of the patients. The individual life project, for example, whose implementation and strengthening are foreseen within the NRP, pursues the aim of achieving the full integration of people with disabilities, through a global programming of interventions, in every dimension or area of living, and during all stages of life “, concluded Stefani.
