Critically ill Pandit Ajay Chakraborty has been admitted to hospital. India’s legendary classical musician is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kolkata.
Ajay Chakraborty’s daughter Kaushik Chakraborty told TVNine, ‘Yes, father had to be admitted to the hospital. I am in the hospital now. I want to inform everyone that there is no reason to worry. Admitted for general checkup. Father is fine.’
When will you be released from the hospital? Singer Kaushikhi said, ‘I can’t say that right now. Doctors can say better. Again, do not spread wrong news. This is the request from the family to everyone.’
Quoting a source, News18 reported that Ajay Chakraborty was admitted to BM Birla Hospital yesterday evening with chest pain. Complete blockages were found in three of his arteries. The doctors think that the musician should undergo angioplasty. He is undergoing treatment under the supervision of cardiologist Dr. Anil Kapoor.
Ajay Chakraborty’s music career has released more than a hundred song albums. Most of these have come out of India, USA, Canada, UK and Germany. These records combine pure classical melodies. It also includes spiritual songs like Thumri, Dadra, Bhajan and Shyama Sangeet.
Ajay Chakraborty is considered as one of the musical legends of Indian classical music. He has received many honors. These include – Padma Shri Award (2011), Delhi Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2000), National Award Kumar Gaurav (1993) etc.
