Panionios recalled the old days. Istorikos overturned the score of the first match against Panserraikos (2-0), beat Serraios 3-0 with a hat-trick from world cup player Denis Cherisef and qualified for the quarter-finals of the Betsson Greek Cup.
Panionios made a historic retreat. Historikonis won 2-0 at Panserraikos in the first match,though,in the play-off in Rizoupoli,they “turned” the series of matches and with 3-0 won the ticket for the quarter-finals of the Betsson Hellenic Cup.
Hero Panionio his great name, his great star. Denis Cheryshev took it upon himself. With two straight foul executions he gave the full balance and in the 85th minute with a penalty he gave Historikon the ”ticket”.
Panionios, after the great qualification against the Stoiximan Super League team, will face the eight, either Asteras Tripoli AKTOR, or Zakynthos.
The game
The striker entered the game strongly and put pressure on the visitors, knowing that he has to cover a two goal difference. Cherishev, who had a good moment in the 8th minute, was more hungry, with Katsika driving in a corner. A little later, it was Bourlakis’ turn to make it tough for the Panserraikos defense.
In the 21st minute, Panionios opened the scoring.cherishev put the ball into the net with a great free kick for Historiako 1-0.
In the following minutes, Panserraikos equalised, at least in terms of possession. Panionios remained perilous and the Russian star had another good moment in the 43rd minute.
In the second half, Panionios continued to have possession and in the 56th minute they equalized the score of the first match. Cheryshev took a direct free kick and again found the back of the net brilliantly, rousing the crowd in Rizoupoli.
The game was “fire” with opportunities for both sides.
In the 79th minute, the newly joined Betancourt made his presence felt with a cross from a difficult angle. Moments later, Panionios came close to scoring, Seba getting a header and narrowly missing.
THelical,the Historian turned the game around in the 85th minute. Semba entered the area, was brought down by Karasalidis and the referee awarded a penalty. Cheryshev hit the goal, scored a hat-trick and sent Historik to the quarter-finals.
In the final minutes, Panserraikos could not respond and Panionios defended their lead. The final whistle found the History players getting on with their lives.
