The Paraguayan head of state expressed his “enthusiasm” after his meeting with Spanish businessmen, representing sectors as varied as the pharmaceutical industry, audiovisual communication, water, renewable energy and medicinal cannabis.

“Paraguay is opening up to the world to attract investment (…). We talk about the great investment opportunities and our competitive advantages,” Santiago Pena wrote on his X account after his meeting with the Spanish investors.

Quoted by the Paraguayan news agency “IP”, the president added that this meeting “will strengthen commercial ties and open new doors to economic development and trade” with Spain and Europe in general.

The agency “IP” highlights that the Spanish delegation explored investment opportunities in several departments of the country for four days.

The head of the Spanish delegation, Eduardo Alvarez, highlighted the recent visit to Spain of Santiago Pena, which generated, according to him, “a wave of expectations and synergies with an agenda full of business meetings.”

Alvarez “said he was convinced that investments will be made in the medium term and that the shared experience will attract more Spanish businessmen.”

According to “IP”, the mission of the Spanish businessmen “represents a significant step forward in the promotion of Paraguay internationally, reflecting the efforts of the Paraguayan government to highlight the current window of opportunity to attract investment and strengthen the country’s economy.”

Paraguay leads the region’s countries with the fastest economic growth in 2024.

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the growth of the country’s gross domestic product is expected to exceed 3.8% this year, a rate that is expected to continue in 2025.
