Paraguay willing to reestablish relations with Venezuela

The new Paraguayan president, Santiago Peña, informed Maduro of his determination to reestablish political relations with the country.


In a telephone conversation, the President-elect of the Republic of ParaguaySantiago Peña Palacios, extended to the Head of State of VenezuelaNicolás Maduro, the determination to restore in the short term the relations political and diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The information emerges from a statement from Venezuela, published on the Twitter social network account of the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yvan Gil.

President Maduro conveyed the congratulations of the Venezuelan people after election day. Peña Palacios accumulated more than 42.7 percent of the votes.

The letter highlights, the Paraguayan president “thanked the conversation and sent President Nicolás Maduro the determination to reestablish in the short term the political relations and diplomatic between Paraguay and Venezuela”.

Both presidents “voted to resume the path of the Latin American union in order to guarantee the prosperity of the region and its peoples.”
