The import of passenger cars to Russia in July amounted to 8016 units, follows from the data of the Avtostat analytical agency and the Electronic Passport system. This number includes both new cars and cars with mileage no older than three years. July imports are generally comparable with the results of June (8256 cars), but almost 2 times less than at the beginning of the year. In January, 15,560 cars were imported into Russia, in February – 21,395.
The government allowed the so-called parallel import, i.e. the import of original goods without the consent of the copyright holder, on March 30, 2022. In early May, the Ministry of Industry and Trade published a list of goods admitted to this regime. It included 50 car brands, mainly medium, premium and luxury segments, as well as commercial vehicles. Basically, these are the manufacturers who were the first to announce the suspension of supplies or production in Russia after the start of the NWO in Ukraine.
