The opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games will take place on August 28 at the Place de la Concorde in Paris. Several Olympic competition sites will be reused for the Paralympic events, notably Les Invalides. They are currently being transformed.

Machines and workers have replaced the skateboards on the Place de la Concorde in Paris. It’s time to clean up. A very different atmosphere from the last few weeks, during the Olympic events. But not everything will be dismantled, as this is where the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games will take place on August 28.

Several Olympic competition sites will be reused: the Stade de France, the Invalides, but also the beach volleyball stadium at the Eiffel Tower, which is currently being transformed to accommodate blind football. The organizers are banking on this postcard of the capital to attract 11,000 spectators during the games.

Another project: the athletes’ village. The first Paralympians will arrive in the next few hours, so the apartments, which were still occupied last week, need to be explored. There is no major work to be done, as the village is designed to accommodate people with mobility disabilities. 9,000 of them will live here.
