Paris – Moroccan athlete Mouncef Bouja won the gold medal in the 400m (T12) on Thursday at the Paralympic Games being held in Paris.

Bouja won the precious metal after posting a time of 48.62 seconds. Silver went to American Noah Malone (49.35), while bronze went to Tunisian Rouay Jebabli (49.56).

The Moroccan qualified for the final on Wednesday after completing the first qualifying series in 48.98 seconds, ahead of the Thai Kissanapong Tisuwan (50.68) and the Zambian Lassam Katongo (58.77).

With this Paralympic title, Morocco brings its haul to 8 medals, 1 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze. The silver medals were won by Youssra Karim in the discus throw (F41), Fatima Zahra El Idrissi in the 1500m (T13) and Abdelilah Gani in the shot put (F53), while the bronze medals were won by Saida Amoudi in the shot put (F34), Aymane El Haddaoui in the 100m competition (T47), Ayoub Adouich (-63 kg/K44) and Rajae Akermach (+65 kg/K44) in para-taekwondo.
