Paris – Moroccan Youssra Karim won the silver medal in the discus throw (F41) on Wednesday during the para-athletics competitions of the Paralympic Games (Paris-2024).

The Moroccan athlete took second place in this competition with a throw of 36.46 m. ​​The Paralympic title was won by Tunisian Raoua Tlili (36.55 m), while bronze went to Ecuadorian Estefany Gisela Lopez Macas (30.89 m).

The other Moroccan entered in this event, Hayat El Garaa, had to settle for fourth place (29.74 m).

In a statement to the press, Youssra Karim expressed her joy at being crowned Paralympic vice-champion in the discus throw, even though she was aiming for gold, given the intense preparations she made in anticipation of the Paralympic Games in Paris.

She said, in this sense, that the competition was tough and the level very high during this competition.

This is the 7th medal (3 silver and 4 bronze) won by Moroccan athletes at the Paris Paralympic Games. The silver medals were won by Fatima Zahra El Idrissi in the 1500m (T13) and Abdelilah Gani in the shot put (F53), while the bronze medals were won by Saida Amoudi in the shot put (F34), Aymane El Haddaoui in the 100m competition (T47), Ayoub Adouich (-63 kg/K44) and Rajae Akermach (+65 kg/K44) in para-taekwondo.
