Angel Garza, as a paramedic, was one of the first to arrive at the school in Uvalde. There he met a little girl. She was covered in blood all over her body.
Garza told CNN, “I thought she was hurt. I asked her what was going on and she said she was fine.”
Hysterically she told that her best friend had been shot and that she was not breathing anymore. Her friend would have tried to call the police. “And I asked the little girl her name and she said the name Amerie,” Garza said tearfully. Amerie was his daughter’s name.
Daughter recently celebrated her tenth birthday
His daughter celebrated her tenth birthday two weeks ago on May 10th. As a gift, she received her first phone, which she had used to try to contact the police. Classmates confirmed this information to the father.

Amerie is survived by her two parents and a three-year-old brother. With a trembling voice, Garza tells the reporter: “We told him that his sister is with God and that she will no longer be with us.”
