Paramore Cancels U.S. Tour Due to Lead Singer’s Illness

The popular American rock band, Paramore, has announced the cancellation of their “This is Why” U.S. tour due to the illness of lead singer Hayley Williams. Williams had previously postponed four shows in an attempt to recover, but her doctor has now advised her against further performances as it may cause long-term damage.

In a statement shared on social media, the 34-year-old singer expressed her disappointment over the situation. “After my lung infection forced us to postpone four shows, I was hoping a week off of performing and a strict medicine routine would allow my body to heal enough to finish off this tour strong,” Williams said. “I have been doing everything I can to fight this infection so we wouldn’t have to disappoint anyone with more news of postponements and cancellations. Unfortunately, it’s past the point of wanting to push through.”

The decision to cancel the remaining shows, which include Portland and Salt Lake City, was made in Seattle on Wednesday night. Williams emphasized that she is now risking long-term damage and needs to prioritize her health. Refunds for tickets will be available at the place of purchase.

“I’m now risking long-term damage and I need to pay attention to my body,” Williams added. “With that in mind and with a heavy heart, we have to cancel our remaining shows in Portland and Salt Lake City.” She also apologized to fans who may have reshuffled plans to attend these shows, acknowledging the disappointment this news brings.

Paramore is currently scheduled to perform a sold-out show at the New Yorker Festival in October before embarking on tours in New Zealand, Australia, and Europe in the coming months. Despite the setback, Williams expressed her gratitude for the continued support from fans.

“I physically cannot go on,” she admitted. “I know this isn’t great news for anyone. Thank you so much for your continued support.”

Fans of Paramore will have to wait until the band’s next performances to see them live.
