(ANSA) – VENICE, JULY 23 – Parco Italia, the reforestation program born from the collaboration between Stefano Boeri Architetti and AlberItalia, announces today together with Vsf, the Veneto Region and Amazon the planting of 14,320 trees in an area of 9 hectares in Malcontenta, in the Municipality of Venice.
This is the largest planting to date under the program, which plans to plant the first 70,000 trees and shrubs by the end of 2024. Parco Italia is a project launched thanks to a €2 million investment from Amazon’s Right Now Climate Fund, a $100 million initiative to support climate resilience and the conservation of the natural environment.
The Malcontenta plantation is the third completed by Parco Italia in Veneto, after the 3,858 trees planted in 3 hectares in Camisano Vicentino (Vicenza) and the 8,763 trees in 7 hectares planted in Mogliano Veneto (Treviso). In the coming months, a fourth project will be launched near Verona, which will bring the total number of plantings in the region to 28,941. To date, more than 60,000 trees and shrubs have been planted throughout Italy; for all of them, Parco Italia also takes care of the first three years of maintenance.
The Malcontenta project was born during the workshops organized by the Fondazione Venezia Capitale Mondiale della Sostenibilità, chaired by Renato Brunetta, which aims to develop sustainable development projects for the city of Venice and its metropolitan area, ensuring the protection of its environmental and cultural heritage. Amazon joined the Foundation with the aim of strengthening its skills and contributing to innovative projects that can have a positive impact on the community and the territory. (ANSA).
