Now yes, it’s official: Leandro Paredes was presented in Roma. The midfielder signed a contract until 2025 this Wednesday and sealed his return to La Loba after six years. He will join fellow world champion Paulo Dybala, who was, until now, the only Argentine on the team.
“Going back to Rome is always an emotion. Doing it to play in the Roma shirt is even more so. I thank the fans for the reception they gave me and the institution for bringing me back to the club that launched me to Europe. Last year I experienced immense joy with the World Cup, now I want to continue winning and I am convinced that I can do it with this team,” Paredes said on his return to Roma.
It is that Roma was the club that took Paredes to Europe in 2014, when he played for Boca. First he was sent on loan to Chievo Verona for a season and a half, and then he remained with La Loba until 2017, when he was acquired by Zenit of Russia; Later, he went through PSG and, recently, Juventus.
“As soon as he knew of our interest, Leandro made us understand that his objective was to return to Roma. His strong will convinced us even more to bring him back to the Giallorossi and today we are happy to see him again wearing the Roma shirt”, commented Tiago Pinto, General Manager of the Club’s Sports Area.

His number and what is coming to Roma
On his return to Roma, Paredes opted for the No. 16 number, a historic one, since it is the one worn by Daniele De Rossi, who also gave him a welcome message. “Welcome home, my friend. This number ‘gets you painted'”, wrote the former player.
With his return now official, Paredes will join Roma’s training sessions and prepare for his debut in Serie A, which will be precisely this Sunday, August 20, starting at 1:30 p.m. (Argentine time) against Salernitana.
Then, the Argentine, along with Dybala and the rest of the team, will wait the next few weeks for the Europa League draw, a contest to which La Loba qualified after having finished sixth in the league last season.
