Manama: Parents who refused to vaccinate their children have been remanded in custody, the public prosecution has said. The action was taken on the basis of a complaint received against 20 persons from the public health department.

By law, nationally approved immunizations must be taken from children’s health centers from time to time. When asked about the parents of children who have not been vaccinated, they refused. Following this, the Ministry of Health handed over the case to those concerned. The public prosecutor for the ministries summoned the parents and questioned them, but all but two agreed that the vaccination could be completed soon. Parents were also warned that they would face legal action if they refused to receive the vaccine without a reason.

The prosecutor asked parents to pay special attention to ensure that their children receive the vaccines they need at the right time.
