Over 400 signatures were collected by parents and teachers from Peshtera to express their disagreement with the appointment of Hristina Ogorelkova as the principal of Primary School “P.R. Slaveykov” in their city. This became clear on the first day of school today, after last Thursday the Regional Department of Education in Pazardzhik announced the results of the competition for the director of the school.
Instead of the expected temporary incumbent Mitka Kavlakova, it turned out that the competition was won by the ex-deputy director of the “Mikhail Karolidi” University – Hristina Ogorelkova. This caused a serious reaction, first among the pedagogical team of the school, and then among the parents themselves.
Kavlakova was acting director of “P.R. Slaveykov” Primary School during the last school year. During this time, she managed to build a cohesive team, improved the material base, and for the first time implemented an admissions plan in the first and fifth grades with two classes each.
At a meeting with the mayor of the municipality of Peshtera Yordan Mladenov, her colleagues expressed strong concern regarding the objectivity of the selection made by the competition committee of the RUO. The parents of the school’s graduates have also expressed their support for the current headmistress.
“Mitka Kavlakova is a long-time teacher at the school, respected by parents, putting ambition, responsibility and care into her work. I know her work directly from the last year, in which 5 elementary classrooms were equipped and completely renovated and an information technology office was equipped with new computer configurations. According to the approved project of the school, the renovation of 3 classrooms, the replacement of old equipment in the fine arts classroom and the laying of new flooring in the school’s gym are to be done.” Yordan Mladenov’s position on the created tension is that of Yordan Mladenov, posted on the social network. “I support the decisiveness of the entire team of Mrs. Kavlakova, so that the institution continues to develop in the direction taken, as well as to build on the results achieved by its head.
