The flight schedules and sales prices of some of the four European routes that T’way Air (091810) will operate starting in the second half of the year were revealed through Mode Tour. However, since this was a route that had not yet been approved, sales soon stopped.

According to the industry on the 1st, reservations for T’way Air tickets to Paris, France, Rome, Italy, and Barcelona, Spain were opened on the Modetour group ticket purchase website over the weekend, but were made private around 9 a.m. on the same day.

Group purchase airline tickets refers to a method in which travel agencies sell hard block seats, which are seats purchased in advance from the airline for package operation, at a low price. If the number of people in the package is not met, you have to go to an empty seat, so it is sold at a low price.

Routes such as Paris and Rome are the transportation rights that Korean Air decided to give to T’way Air following the business combination of Korean Air (003490) and Asiana Airlines (020560). This is because the European Union (EU) competition authorities required the entry of alternative airlines as a condition for approval of the business combination.

T’way Air plans to sequentially operate flights to four European cities, including Paris, starting in June even before the completion of the business combination. However, the relevant procedures of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for transferring transportation rights from Korean Air have not been completed, so the flight schedule has not been made public. Airline ticket sales have not yet begun.

In the end, unlicensed airline tickets that did not receive route approval were released through travel agencies. Modetour acknowledges that there were communication problems with T’way Air, but maintains that it did not sell it arbitrarily.

An official from Modetour said, “T’way Air did not sell it with a guarantee,” but added, “Travel agencies do not sell it arbitrarily just because there is a possibility of service, and they meet with the airline for a long period of time. “Generally, the timing of sales (of hard block seats) is determined by travel agencies, and they are aggressively selling based on their own judgment,” he said.

T’way Air requested Mode Tour to stop sales this morning. A T’way Air official said, “In the process of discussing sales plans for European routes with a travel agency, the travel agency arbitrarily exposed and sold the expected sales price,” and added, “The disclosed information is not confirmed.”

However, the fact that such a detailed sales plan has been exposed by a travel agency is interpreted to mean that it is closer to actual sales.

Based on Modetour, Paris will operate three times a week (Wednesday, Saturday, and Monday) starting June 26th. The outbound flight is scheduled to depart at 10:25 am and the return flight is scheduled to depart at 8:30 pm, and the price is set at 1,007,200 won for a round trip.

Rome will launch a once-a-week (Sunday) schedule on August 11, with a departure flight at 12:40 p.m. and a return flight at 9:25 p.m. The price is 1,784,700 won for a round trip.

Starting September 11, Barcelona operates three times a week (Wednesday, Friday, and Monday), with outbound flights at 11 a.m. and return flights at 9 p.m. The round-trip standard price was set differently depending on the period: 2.56 million won, 2.16 million won, and 1.76 million won.
