Paris 2024: after the rush on the packs, how to still have places for the Olympic Games?

by time news

Since its official opening on February 17, the ticket office for the 2024 Olympics has fueled many conversations and messages on social networks. The luckiest -or the best organized- were able to fill up on places at attractive prices. The others complain about the pricing policy or the complexity of the process of buying packs that they discover. This first phase of ticket sales is supposed to end on March 15 but will be closed earlier if the three million tickets on sale have already found a buyer. Which should be the case in view of the raid of the first days… For those who wish to offer themselves a share of the Olympic dream in a year and a half and who have not been able (because they were unhappy in the draw) or did not want to acquire packs, here are the next steps not to be missed.

Single box office in May

From March 15, for those who had not already done so before January 31, it will be possible to register for the draw for the sale of single tickets, which will begin in May. As with the packs, you will have to wait to receive the “congratulations” email from the organizing committee to be able to connect to the platform in a defined time slot.

Seven million tickets will then be made available to buyers, covering all sessions. They will therefore be able to get their hands, for example, on places for the 100m final in athletics, the swimming finals or even an expected final for Teddy Riner in judo or the Blues in basketball. Indeed, all these categories do not appear in the catalog available in the packs. Tickets for the opening ceremony along the Seine, on July 26, 2024, will also be offered on the same date.

Over all the phases (pack and unit), each buyer can accumulate a maximum of 30 places. That is to say that the lucky ones who have been drawn twice will not have to have exhausted their entire quota in the packs. Anyone who has drawn their bank card for twenty-four banknotes in packs will thus only have six cartridges left to redeem individually.

From the end of 2023 and until the start of the Olympic Games, tickets not sold out during the first two phases will be put on sale without any draw. But the choice will necessarily be very limited.

An official resale system set up

Do not panic for those who are not yet sure of being able to attend the events or bet on athletes who will miss their qualification. An official resale system will make it possible to sell places that are no longer of interest and to satisfy those who were unable to obtain them through the draws.

This is why first-time buyers without financial constraints quickly exhausted their quota of 30 places, knowing that they risked almost no loss if they changed their minds.

As a reminder, any resale made outside the official platform is prohibited. Tickets used in violation of the sales rules will be canceled and their holders deprived of stands.

At this time, details on how this resale device will work are not known.

3.4 million places for the Paralympic Games

In the summer of 2024, there will not only be the Olympic Games in Paris. The Paralympic competition will take place from August 28 to September 8. The ticket office will open in the fall of 2023 and there will be no need for a draw to discover boccia or goalball at Porte de Versailles. 500,000 seats will cost 15 euros and different options (single ticket, day pass, etc.) will be available. A good way to see the Games differently.
