jpnn.com – PARIS – Defending Olympic champions the United States are starting to work hard to win gold at Paris 2024.

One of the gold medals won by the US contingent came from the swimming pool, Paris La Defense Arena, Friday (2/8) early morning WIB.

Kate Douglass won gold for the US in the women’s 200m breaststroke.

The time record did not break the Olympic record held by Tatjana Smith (South Africa), which was two minutes 18.95 seconds, which was recorded at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The world record in this event is held by Evgeniia Chikunova (Russia), two minutes 17.55 seconds recorded in April 2023.

Kate won the event after defeating Olympic record holder Tatjana Smith who had to be satisfied with the silver medal. Dutch swimmer Tes Schouten took bronze.

As of Friday morning at 07:25 WIB, the US had collected nine gold, 15 silver and 13 bronze medals.

50 countries are in the medal standings for the 2024 Paris Olympics as of Friday morning, not one from Southeast Asia.
