“We are delighted with the positive results achieved by Moroccan athletes during this international event, which are the result of continuous preparation work,” said Mr. El Aouni in a statement to the press, on the occasion of the arrival, on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday at Rabat-Salé airport, of the Moroccan delegation taking part in the Paris-2024 Paralympic Games.

“Moroccan athletes have shone in several sports disciplines with a total of 15 medals won, two world records and a Paralympic record broken,” he rejoiced.

The federal official affirmed that the congratulatory messages from HM King Mohammed VI addressed to the Moroccan Paralympic champions are a source of pride for them and an additional motivation to distinguish themselves during the next events in order to honor the national colors.

For his part, Paralympic champion Aymane El Haddaoui, holder of the gold medal in the 400m (T47) and bronze in the 100m (T47), highlighted the preparations of Moroccan athletes which resulted in remarkable results, expressing the wish to achieve even more distinguished results during the next participations.

For his part, the silver medalist in the same event, Ayoub Sadni indicated that Moroccan athletes managed to honor Morocco during this international event, noting that the congratulatory messages from HM King Mohammed VI are a source of motivation for athletes to give the best of themselves.

“I would have liked to offer a gold medal to Morocco but unfortunately I did not manage to retain my Paralympic title,” he regretted, noting that Moroccan disabled sport has a bright future ahead of it.

Morocco’s participation in the Paris Paralympic Games is the 10th after those of Seoul 1988, Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Morocco, whose champions managed to win 15 medals, including 3 gold, 6 silver and as many bronze in Paris, has thus increased its harvest since its first participation to 53 medals. Nineteen gold, 17 silver and 17 bronze.

The Kingdom took part in the 17th Paralympic Games with a delegation comprising 38 athletes. They competed in the events of para athletics (motor and visual impairment), wheelchair tennis, para powerlifting, para taekwondo, para road cycling and blind football.
