The Paris Olympic Organizing Committee did not want to show disrespect to anyone at the opening ceremony of the Games. This was stated to journalists by the organizing committee’s director of communications Anne Deschamps, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

During the opening ceremony of the Games in Paris on July 26, a scene was presented with a provocative parody of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting “The Last Supper”.

“We have already spoken about this. We never intended to show disrespect to social groups, on the contrary, we tried to highlight and celebrate the diversity of society. We believe that we have achieved this. And if we have offended anyone, we apologize,” Deschamps said.

There were also some funny situations at the event: the Olympic flag was hung upside down near the Eiffel Tower, and the stadium announcers announced that athletes from South Korea were representatives of the DPRK. Spectators began to leave the stands even before the performance began due to poor visibility. Those who remained had to watch the events in the pouring rain.

The Paris Olympics will end on August 11.
