/ Arab media outlets revealed, on Tuesday, the most prominent points of the “Paris Document” that discusses a “calm agreement” in the Gaza Strip in the presence of American, Israeli, Qatari and Egyptian officials.

Last Sunday, talks were held in Paris between the Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), William Burns, and senior officials from Egypt, Qatar, and Israel, to discuss a truce agreement in the Gaza war, according to sources close to the participants in these meetings.

Israeli sources reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed in principle to the proposed framework agreement, while Hamas expressed its openness but has not yet provided a final response.

Sky News Arabia channel showed the most important points included in the Paris document: “The deal is partial in order to avoid the main point of contention, which is Hamas’s demand for a complete ceasefire and an Israeli withdrawal.”

She added, “The deal has two other stages that follow the partial stage, but they were left without many details so as not to constitute an obstacle to the first stage, and the next steps will be negotiated during the ceasefire period.”

She explained that “the first stage of the exchange deal includes those whom Israel calls humanitarian cases among the detainees, whose numbers range between 35 and 40 (this category includes the remaining women, children, elderly men over the age of 60, the wounded, and those suffering from serious health conditions). These will be exchanged for Palestinian prisoners according to the key of 1 for 100 prisoners, and the ratio may rise to 1 for 250 (this clause is negotiable between the two parties).”

The channel explained that “the Palestinian prisoners being discussed are those with high sentences (those whom Israel calls prisoners with blood on their hands), while the deal also includes a temporary truce for a month and a half (and according to the date of the deal’s conclusion in February, the truce period may include the entire month of Ramadan).”

Sky News Arabia pointed out that “the deal includes the redeployment of the Israeli army inside the Strip, the withdrawal of the army from some areas, and the redeployment inside the Strip.”

Waiting for Hamas

Reuters quoted the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, as saying that “the movement received the Paris proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and will study it.”

The head of the movement’s political bureau stressed that “the priority is to end the Israeli military attack and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.”

Haniyeh said he “will visit Cairo to discuss the Paris proposal,” according to Reuters.
