Paris garbage collectors explain the reasons for their strike: “We see colleagues dying before retirement”

REPORTAGE – We went to meet the garbage collectors of Paris, on their picket line, in front of the incinerator of Ivry in the 13th arrondissement.

While thousands of tons of garbage cans are now piling up in a dozen Parisian arrondissements, garbage collectors, but also sewer workers and even incinerator workers in the capital, are maintaining their strike, which could be extended until Wednesday, in order to to protest against the pension reform.

In this interview, they come back to the arduous nature of their work: “The life expectancy of a garbage collector or sewer worker is far lower than that of a worker in general”.
