Paris: is the metro ready to face the torrential rains?

Water flowing from the ceiling, torrents pouring from the stairs, Parisians, water up to their ankles… With each stormy episode when torrential rains fall on the capital, the same apocalyptic images circulate looped on social networks, giving the Paris metro the air of the final scene of the film “Titanic”. This was again the case on Tuesday August 16, when an exceptional downpour – about 44 mm of rain fell in the space of a few minutes – 8 stations out of the 368 in the capital were closed for safety reasons.
