Speaking at a seminar organized by the Paris City Hall on the theme “Diasporas, city diplomacy: challenges and opportunities” at the Théâtre de la Ville, Mr. El Yazami, quoted in a CCME press release, recalled the constitutional framework in which are part of these policies, in particular article 16, which encourages the contribution of Moroccans around the world “to the strengthening of ties of friendship and cooperation with the governments and societies of the countries where they reside or of which they are also citizens” .
The president of the CCME, who spoke in a round table entitled “diasporas as a driving force of the economy”, also focused on the profound changes experienced by Moroccan communities abroad.
He also insisted on the essential role of local authorities in any diaspora mobilization policy, recalling in passing the important seminar organized jointly in March 2023 by the Association of Regions of Morocco (ARM) and the CCME and the memorandum of understanding subsequently signed between the two institutions.
This round table saw the participation of Elisabeth Moreno, former delegate minister, two deputies to Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris, Valéry Vuong, vice-president of the Representative Council of Asian Associations of France, Samir Bouzidi, CEO of ‘ ‘Impact Diaspora’, and Elie Nkamgueu, president of the Efficience Club.
The scheduled round tables successively addressed the themes: “diasporas at the heart of the dialogue of cultures and memories”, “decentralized cooperation: Networks of cities and diasporas”, “diasporas as a driving force of the economy” and “how diasporas open a new page in diplomacy.
