Woojin Kim (Cheongju City Hall) and Im Si-hyeon (Korea National Sport University), who won three gold medals in archery at the ‘2024 Paris Olympics’, were selected as the best athletes by the Korea Sports Council and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation.

Kim Woo-jin and Im Si-hyeon attended the ‘Thank you, Tean Korea’ commemorative event held at the Seoul Olympic Parktel on the 13th and received the Best Player Award.

At the Paris Olympics that ended last month, Woojin Kim and Im Sihyeon won gold medals in the men’s and women’s individual events, the men’s and women’s team events, and the mixed team event, respectively, becoming triple crown winners.

In particular, Im Si-hyeon achieved the great feat of winning 10 consecutive Olympic women’s archery team events, starting from the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Kim Woo-jin, who was selected as the best player, said, “I did my best at this Olympics, and I will work even harder to be selected as the best player at the next Olympics.”

Kim Woo-jin also said, “It’s been a little over a month since the Olympics ended, but watching the video from the game today brought back the emotions I had back then.”

He continued, “As an athlete, I will continue to improve with the goal of the Olympics in mind,” and “I definitely want to perform well at the 2028 LA Olympics and bring joy to the people.”

Lim Si-hyeon also said, “I prepared for this year’s Paris Olympics and ran hard, but when it was over, I felt a little empty and disappointed regardless of the results. However, I was also proud because I think I achieved such good results.”

Lim Si-hyeon said, “The preliminary round will start again at the end of this month. I will do well in this preliminary round and show good performance at the World Championships next year.”

In addition to the MVP award that day, awards were also given to players who performed particularly well or showed fighting spirit.

The Achievement Award went to Kim Woo-min (Gangwon Provincial Office), who won a bronze medal in the men’s 400m freestyle swimming event at the Olympics, and the Fighting Spirit Award went to Yeo Seo-jeong (Jecheon City Office), a female gymnast who competed in the Olympics despite a shoulder injury.

The Challenge Award went to Won-Ho Lee (KB Kookmin Bank), who unfortunately failed to win a medal at this Olympics, placing fourth in both the air pistol mixed and men’s finals.

Meanwhile, the Outstanding Coach Award, given to coaches who have devoted themselves behind the scenes for the athletes, went to table tennis coach Oh Gwang-heon, taekwondo coach Oh Hye-ri, and modern pentathlon coach Jeon Eun-hee.
