Paris: The organizers have released the medal designs for the Olympics to be held in Paris this year. Each of the medals features a piece of metal from the famous Eiffel Tower. This was announced by the organizers themselves while releasing the medals on Thursday. The center of each medal will be hexagonal and include a metal part from the Eiffel Tower. The same medals will be used in the subsequent Paralympics.
5,084 medals including gold, silver and bronze will be awarded in Paris Olympics. The medals were designed by leading French jewelry house Chaumet. The Paris Olympics are from July 26 to August 11. The Paralympics will be held from August 28 to September 8.
Over the years, parts of the Eiffel Tower that have been removed during repairs are used in the medals. These metal parts were taken from the warehouse of the company that maintains the Eiffel Tower and so on.
The organizers of the respective countries try to bring some difference in the Olympic medals. The medals distributed at the recent Tokyo Olympics used metal extracted from devices such as mobile phones and laptops.
