Paris Olympics: The Paris Olympics will be officially inaugurated today with a colourful program on the banks of the Seine river on a colourful evening in Paris. The Olympic organisers were struggling to find a suitable host city for these games. Usually players traditionally enter the stadium by marching but in the Paris Olympics, 10500 players will ride on more than 90 boats and parade for six kilometers on the Seine river. India sent 117 athletes this time and it is expected that this will prove to be the most successful Olympics for India. India won seven medals in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which is its best performance till date. This time even better is expected. India can get more than ten medals. The weather may play spoilsport during the unique opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics on the river Seine as the weather department has forecast rain on Friday. France’s weather department Meteo France has forecast rain on Friday morning. The weather will be clear in the afternoon but it may rain in the evening when the opening ceremony is scheduled. Even if it rains, the opening ceremony will go on as scheduled.
Sharat-Sindhu eager to carry the tricolor
Indian table tennis legend Achanta Sharath Kamal and top shuttler and two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu are excited for the ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity’ to be the flag bearers for the opening ceremony on Friday. Sharath Kamal, who is participating in a record fifth Olympics, and PV Sindhu will be India’s flag bearers. Sharath Kamal said, ‘Looking forward to July 26, when we will lead the Indian contingent at the opening ceremony in Paris. This is a moment I have been dreaming and fantasising about for the last 3-4 months. I am very excited that I am going to live that moment and especially I am going to do it with PV Sindhu, so I would say it is a great moment.’ Sindhu said, ‘Yes, I am very happy to be the flag bearer along with my fellow Indian Sharath Kamal. It is a proud moment for both of us and of course it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for someone to be the flag bearer and represent our country.’
