Paris-Saclay sues the telecoms policeman for damage to the optical fiber

The Paris-Saclay (Essonne) urban community had filed a complaint against X twice in 2022. It decided to go further on Tuesday by suing Arcep, the authority in charge of the deployment of fiber optics on French territory, before the Council of State, via a summary-suspension, reports The Parisian. The reason: the degradation of the fiber optic network.

More demanding training

The agglomeration community has already had to intervene on several occasions to restore it. “We expect Arcep to give the operators formal notice. The regulatory authority must move from an attitude of collaboration to injunctions to lead to concrete results,” declared the president (Horizons) of the agglomeration, and mayor of Palaiseau, Grégoire de Lasteyrie. The consequences on the inhabitants would be multiple, with breakdowns and residents waiting for a connection.

Arcep did not wish to “comment on the subject”. Last February, its president explained that control processes were in place but that they were insufficient. “Technician training needs to be more demanding. Being able to rely on a quality fiber network is essential,” she added.
