On the 19th, Park Ji-won, former head of the National Intelligence Service, said, “I don’t know what the matter is” regarding the request of the NIS to investigate on charges of pressure (abuse of authority, obstruction of the exercise of rights) in the process of replacing Won Hun-seok during his tenure as director.
On the 19th, Park, the former head of the National Intelligence Service, said on Facebook, “I have not been contacted from anywhere regarding the request to investigate Won Hoon-seok.”
Then he added, “I would have received money from Won Hun-seok, or I would have moved that heavy stone to my bedroom.”
On the 17th, the NIS requested an investigation by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on charges of putting pressure on former Director Park in the process of replacing Won Hun-seok. The anti-corruption and public crime investigation team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, which was assigned the case, is investigating (internal investigation) before arresting Park.
In June 2021, when former director Park was in office, the NIS changed Won Hoon and replaced Won Hun-seok with ‘endless loyalty and devotion for the country and the people’.
It was pointed out that the changed Won Hun-seok was inappropriate because it was written in the ‘Shin Yeong-bok font’, which imitated the handwriting of the late Shin Young-bok, a professor at Sungkonghoe University, who served 20 years in prison for violating the National Security Law.
