Kim Da-ye (31), wife of comedian Park Soo-hong (54), announced that Park Soo-hong’s sister-in-law’s friend was sentenced to a fine for malicious comments.
On the 20th, Kim Da-ye wrote on her social media, “Do you remember the malicious commenters who used to spread malicious false information about every article related to Park Soo-hong in the past?” and released the verdict containing the results of the lawsuit against the malicious commenters.
Kim Da-ye explained, “After the lawsuit, the identity of the accused was revealed to be that of the embezzlement defendant’s close friend, and the friend was summarily indicted by the prosecution for defamation by false facts and fined 4 million won.”
“The sister-in-law’s friend refused to accept this and went to trial, which ultimately resulted in the fine being increased from 4 million won to 6 million won,” he added.
Kim Da-ye pointed out, “The defendant’s claim is, ‘I just trusted Ms. Lee, Park Soo-hong’s sister-in-law, and YouTuber Kim Yong-ho.’ At trial, Kim Yong-ho requested Ms. Lee as a witness and claimed, ‘I trusted the tip-off from Ms. Lee and her friend,’ which is quite contradictory. It’s nice to see them shifting responsibility and blaming each other in the end.”
According to the verdict released by Kim Da-ye, the malicious commenter, an acquaintance of Lee, was sentenced to a fine of 6 million won on the 10th for defamation and insult in violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc.
Meanwhile, Park Soo-hong is currently on trial with his older brother and sister-in-law. The older brother, Mr. Park, and his sister-in-law are being tried on charges of embezzling 6.2 billion won in Park Soo-hong’s appearance fees while operating two entertainment agencies, Lael and Mediaboom, for 10 years from 2011 to 2021.
However, the trial court acknowledged the amount of embezzlement as 2 billion won, and found Park not guilty of misappropriating 1.6 billion won of personal funds for personal use while managing his younger brother’s four personal accounts.
The trial court sentenced Mr. Park, who was indicted on charges of embezzlement under the Aggravated Punishment Act for Specific Economic Crimes, to two years in prison. However, it did not detain him in court, as it was determined that there was no risk of destruction of evidence or flight. His sister-in-law, Ms. Lee, was found not guilty. Both the prosecution and Mr. Park Soo-hong’s older brother appealed the verdict.
In addition, Park Soo-hong’s sister-in-law, Ms. Lee, is currently on trial for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation) against Park Soo-hong and his wife. The prosecution has demanded a 10-month prison sentence for Ms. Lee. Ms. Lee’s sentencing will be held on the 23rd of next month.
