BOLZANO. Park Vittoria, the notice has been published. The choice was clear: either the Municipality increased its share for the construction of the 5-storey garage, or the years available to the concessionaire were increased to allow him to optimize the investment. We opted for the second. So that the municipality will add its – only – 5.7 million, and no more, to the almost 21 that will be due to the private builder. Which, on the other hand, will have more profit margins, going from the 35 years of management previously envisaged to the 40 now established in the basic document for the competition. «The risk of not acting on either front – explains the councilor from the council Stefano Fattor – was not seeing any group of companies arrive”. The announcement just released is based on this bet. And who expects not to retrace the path of the first, which ended with the desertification of the competitors. It was a matter of moving along a narrow road but which, here is the other more political element, contains – almost a balance of the many years of concession to the advantage of builders – a series of steps that allow the Municipality to “cover itself on the left”: the places for residents at the expense of those on rotation have been increased.
Residents: 45 thousand euros for a garage and 90 euros per month for rent
The cost of the garages, reserved for those who live within a 500 meter radius of the garage being built, has been set at 45 thousand euros (“not the 50 or 60 thousand that had been controversial for a long time” says the councilor), while the rent for parking spaces for residents will not be more than 90 euros per month. This was the most delicate political element, especially within the relations between the Democratic Party and the Greens in the council. That is to say, a plan for the operation that would not stimulate further traffic in the urban quadrant of Corso Libertà-Piazza Vittoria: «and which would actually have been done with a higher number of rotating parking spaces», comments Fattor. And this was achieved by keeping the balance between spaces for commuters and residents clearly in favor of the latter.
The construction site is still postponed to the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026
Then the deadlines: the car park must be built in no more than two and a half years of construction time. So that, objectively, the agenda for the actual delivery of the work is still slipping. Taking into account the fact that the tender will be open until mid-June and that it will take no less than 90 days to examine any proposals, the construction site should start no earlier than the end of this year. Probable early 2026.
The garage will be 5 stories. The construction site cancels 281 positions
The first floors will be “open” to the public with more than 230 seatsthe “wild card” one will be for mixed use between residents and season tickets. With a final overall calculation, sketchy for now, of 215 spaces with garage or rented and maximum 180 bluetherefore for non-residents. Finally, one of the most delicate steps. Given the presence of the construction site and the need, however, to guarantee space for the almost 300 market stalls, the surface parking spaces will suffer a collapse with the total cancellation of 281 spaces (almost 160 parking spaces away from the square, 30 in via San Quirino, 30 from Via Longon, 22 from Corso Italia and 39 from Corso Libertà) plus the transformation of around ten spaces in Piazza Mazzini and 7 in Via Amba Alagi from blue places with payment to whites.
