The Parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee confirmed its efforts to pass the Iraqi Sports Clubs Law during the current legislative session, due to its importance in regulating the work of clubs..

Member of the Parliamentary Sports Committee, Jiay Timur Abdul Qader, told the (INA) today, Thursday: “The Sports Clubs Law is one of the most important laws,” indicating that “the law currently in effect is considered old, as it was approved in 1986, and was issued to cover the requirements of that era. We now need to issue a new law that meets the requirements of the current stage in a way that serves the interests of sports clubs.”“.

“This law was presented in more than one legislative session, especially in the fourth session, where 17 paragraphs were approved, but due to the political aspect, the previous session did not complete the work to approve it in full,” Abdul Qader added, noting that “the Parliamentary Sports Committee, since the beginning of the current session, has asked the Speaker of the Council to include this law and work on its first and second reading and then approve it, but it was postponed because it was a draft law that was not submitted by the government.”“.

Abdul Qader expressed his “hope that it will be approved before the end of the current session, given its importance in organizing clubs and arranging their rights and duties, in addition to its positive impact on the sports movement in Iraq.” “.
