Speaking at the opening of the second edition of the Marrakech Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf region initiated by the Chamber of Advisors and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), Mr. Alj noted the urgency of reaching a unified solution that could lead to new partnerships in the fields of agriculture and technology.
According to him, the Euro-Mediterranean region and the Gulf countries, although they have significant potential, face enormous challenges in terms of energy and digital technology, as well as others related to food sovereignty.
It is mainly about transforming these challenges into real levers of growth through more dialogue and economic partnerships, he continued, noting that Morocco plays a fundamental role in Euro-Mediterranean relations.
The objective, he argued, is to focus on the challenges of the energy and digital transition and especially the progress made by the Kingdom in recent years under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The dynamics experienced by Morocco, a regional economic force with integrated value chains, will have to be further strengthened by the investments that will be attracted by the organization of the World Cup, he added.
Organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Marrakech Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Region, whose constitutive session took place in December 2022 in the Ochre City, represents an ideal opportunity for parliamentarians and founding partners of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean to interact with political and economic actors from the public and private sectors, as well as with academia and civil society.
This second edition, which will be held on July 11 and 12, will cover two main themes, namely “The transition to green energy” and “Support for entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises in this process”.
