It has also been said that if these words are ever used in the Houses of Parliament, they will be removed from the list by the Speaker. Ever since this announcement, many opposition MPs and MLAs have expressed their displeasure.

In this situation, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has explained the criticisms of the opposition parties. Speaking to the media in this regard, Om Birla said, “All the deleted words are used in Parliament by the opposition parties and the ruling party. There is no plan to selectively delete words used only by opposition parties. Except they have been deleted… no words have been banned.

In the past, a book was published containing such words that should not be used in Parliament. We published it on the internet so that no paper was wasted. We have now published a collection of deleted words. No words are forbidden in this. This has been a regular practice since 1959. Also, I don’t know if they have read this 1,100 page dictionary. If they had read like that, they would not have spread such a wrong idea,” he said.
