Parma Clinches Stunning 2-1 Victory Over Milan, Ending 14-Year Winless Streak

by time news

Parma managed to secure its first win in Serie A against all odds, defeating Milan (2-1)!

The fans of Parma will remember this match for a long time, especially those who were present to witness their team’s game against Milan (2-1), as they managed to win against the “Rossoneri” after 14 years! The visitors’ early goal did not affect them as they managed to equalize, but were unable to take the lead. Thus, Cancellieri secured the three points for the “Gialloblu,” scoring his first goal.

The Parma team was on fire, and from the 2nd minute of the match, in their first attack, they made it 1-0 with Man sending the ball into the net from a pass by Valeri.

Up until the half-hour mark, the hosts did whatever they wanted on the field while Milan was trying to find their footing. A corner in the 30th minute was the first good chance the visitors had to equalize, as the “Gialloblu” defense got confused, with a shot from Pulisic hitting the bodies and the phase ending sadly.

The most significant moment for the “Rossoneri” came in the 37th minute from another corner, with Pavlovic finding the ball with his head, sending it just outside the goal.

Just before halftime, Parma picked up the pace, clearly showing that they wanted a second goal before both teams went into the locker rooms.

In the 42nd minute, Som, on a counterattack, reached the opponent’s area and made a very poor finish, missing the opportunity to score. Three minutes later, Man was again through on goal from another counterattack, one-on-one against Maignan.

Pavlovic caught him just before he executed, but the action didn’t stop there. Michaila stole the ball from the French goalkeeper and tried his luck, but the ball hit the post.

A very dynamic start for Milan in the second half of the match, with the “Rossoneri” hitting the post with Reinders in the 47th minute and Pulisic shooting with incredible power, only to be denied by Suzuki, keeping his team’s lead intact.

Pulisic found the way to the net in the 66th minute, following a collaboration between Leao and Hernandez, with the former assisting the American for 1-1.

The joy of the Milanese fans didn’t last long, as in the 77th minute Almkvist, covering half the field, found Cancellieri with a low pass, who scored his first goal with Parma for 2-1.

Here are the starting lineups for both teams:
