Second seed Martina Trevisan suffered a shock 5-7, 0-6 no-set loss to Charips Tomar in the opening round of the Parma Ladies Open tennis tournament.
It was the third first-round defeat for Trevisan, who reached the semifinals of this year’s French Open. Third seed Camelia was leading 7-5, 5-1 when Victoria Dormao retired. Tanka Kovinic defeated Tatin 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 and Mayar Sherif defeated Anna Bondar 7-5, 6-4.
