The Ski Mountain Park, in São Roque (68 km from São Paulo), announced this Thursday (13) that it will remain closed indefinitely in solidarity with the family and friends of teacher Luciana Cerri, 42, who died in an accident at the site in Saturday (8).

According to the statement from the park, the closure also aims to collaborate with the investigation of the accident, investigated by the Civil Police.

Luciana, who lived in Campinas, and her seven-year-old son were riding the toy on Saturday morning, they were thrown and hit the guardrail. The child suffered injuries and is recovering. The teacher was rescued, but she couldn’t resist.

One of the investigated possibilities is the failure of a safety device that should slow down the final part of the toboggan. Park officials and tourists have already been heard by the police.

The Ski Park has not operated since the day of the accident and has now officially announced the suspension of activities, without providing a date for reopening.

A team from Crea (Regional Council for Engineering and Agronomy) from São Paulo visited the Ski Park, initiated an administrative procedure and issued a notification for all documentation related to the technical activities carried out at the site to be presented.

The toboggan run has individual lanes measuring 350 meters in length. On the official website, the park states that the minimum age for using the toy is four years old, with the child accompanied by a guardian, but it does not clarify whether the descent of two people can occur at the same time.

In the incident report, on the day of the accident, however, there is information that the child on her lap “would be a common procedure”, according to the investigations carried out by the police team at the scene.
