Thiruvananthapuram: Mammootty starrer in Malayalam released in 1988, ‘A CBI Diary Note’. The film, which tells the story of a murder detective from various angles, ran for over 100 days in Tamil Nadu. Mukesh and Jagathy Sreekumar played Mammootty’s aides to CBI officer. In particular, the detective scenes of Jagathy Sreekumar in disguise are humorous and interesting. The second part of the film ‘Jagratha’ was released in 1989, the third part ‘Chethurama Iyer CBI’ was released in 2004 and the 4th part ‘Nerariyan CBI’ was released in 2005.
All 4 episodes released in the last 34 years have been successful. Mammootty played the role of Sethurama Iyer, a CBI officer in all the 4 episodes. Directed by K. Madhu, the story was written by SN Swamy. The 5th part of the film is currently in its 17th year. It stars Mammootty, Mukesh, Jegathy Sreekumar, Suvasika and Kanika. K. Madhu, who directed 4 parts, has also directed the 5th part. He directed the 1990 film ‘Maunam Sammatham’ starring Mammootty and Amala in Tamil. SN Swamy has written the story for 4 parts and also for the 5th part. The film is titled ‘The Brain’.
