Given the dissatisfaction of the former Morena candidate, Catalina Monreal, due to alleged irregularities in the contest, the Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) began the partial recount of votes in the Cuauhtémoc mayoral election on Monday.

At 9:00 a.m., the IECM began the counting of 73 electoral packages, following the resolution of the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF).

“The partial recount exercise will be held in District Councils 9 and 12in said mayor’s office, with the presence of representatives of the political parties, who will observe the development of the process at all times,” reported the IECM.

He also explained that the exercise will be carried out in a polling station in Electoral District 12, and in 72 in Electoral District 9, as determined by the TEPJF.

In light of the new partial recount of votes in Cuauhtémoc, the elected mayor, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, He reiterated his confidence that the local Institute will confirm his victory.

“As you know, at 9:00 am the partial recount will begin in both districts in Cuauhtémoc. I leave you the link so that we can all witness the confirmation, once again, of our victory,” he wrote.

The vote counting does not include breaks, unless it is not concluded before midnight. If this is the case, the exercise will be resumed tomorrow at 8:00 a.m., explained councilor Ernesto Ramos.
