Participants of the international conference “Solving the problem of missing persons: supporting the right of families to establish the truth” visited the city of Shusha.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Trend, they got acquainted with the central square of the city of Shusha, the house of the poetess Khurshidbanu Natavan, the Khan Gizy Bulaga spring, and the Fortress walls.

The guests were informed about the history of the city of Shusha, its condition during the occupation, restoration and construction work carried out in the city under the direct control of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, restoration of historical monuments and planned plans.

It was noted that historical buildings, mosques, and monuments in the city of Shusha were vandalized during almost 30 years of Armenian occupation. After the liberation of the city of Shusha from occupation, large-scale restoration and construction work began here. Along with the construction of infrastructure, work began in Shusha to restore the historical appearance of the city, historical and cultural monuments.

Members of the delegation also visited the site of a mass grave discovered last year on the territory of the Shusha prison.

It was reported that remains believed to be those of 31 people were discovered in the area last year. The discovered remains showed signs of damage. The collected materials confirmed the fact that during their lifetime these people were subjected to numerous tortures and inhumane treatment.

It should be noted that in Baku, under the joint organization of the State Commission of Azerbaijan for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Citizens and the International Committee of the Red Cross, an international conference was held on the topic “Solving the problem of missing persons: supporting the right of families to establish the truth.”
